Sowing to the Spirit

God tells the believers of Galatia in Galatians 6:7-10:
Do not be deceived, God is not mocked; for whatever a man sows, this he will also reap. For the one who sows to his own flesh will from the flesh reap corruption, but the one who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life. Let us not lose heart in doing good, for in due time we will reap if we do not grow weary. So then, while we have opportunity, let us do good to all people, and especially to those who are of the household of the faith.

This past week at Vacation Bible School (VBS) believers of Wooster Grace sowed to the Spirit by committing themselves to His direction. Over 260 individuals volunteered to do good to students (and their families): they shared Christ's love with the enablement of the Spirit and spoke of the person of Christ as God provided opportunities. I praise the Lord for the harvest that He brought last week: the kids whom the Lord brought to Himself, the kids whom the Lord grew, and the volunteers whom the Lord developed!

Since so many hours could be spent talking about the harvest which the Spirit brought about in the lives of Sowing Hope Ministries (SHM) students and volunteers through VBS, I'll just take the time and space to share some of the big points:
  • Students heard the Good News of Jesus Christ
  • Students were in an environment where they were shown Christ's love
  • 67 SHM students attended VBS--a record high
  • 61 SHM students attended VBS & Acres of Fun on Thursday--a record high for a single day
  • Over 55 volunteers served and loved SHM students throughout the week
  • 8 SHM STUDENTS TRUSTED IN JESUS CHRIST FOR THEIR SALVATION
PRAISE THE LORD!!!

While Vacation Bible School is over, ministry at Wooster Grace (including Sowing Hope Ministries) is still continuing. The obligation to sow to the Spirit in doing good to people--especially believers--still remains! Are you and am I continually walking by the Spirit in order to demonstrate His fruit and reap a harvest? How can we better do good to both family members in Christ as well as unbelievers? Let's take a moment to prayerfully consider this.

Here are some particular ways in which you can follow the Lord in doing good to people through the ministry of Sowing Hope:
  • Pray for a Sowing Hope student or volunteer
  • Play games with kids, serve or grill food, and/or help with set-up and tear-down at our annual picnics (July 26, 28, 30)
  • Purchase food for our annual picnics
  • Develop a Christ-centered friendship with a Sowing Hope child, adult, or family
  • Lead a weekly small group for children or adults
  • Sponsor a child for Upwards basketball / cheer-leading, camp, or a mission trip
  • Sponsor a child for a backpack for school
  • Provide a family or children with a ride to and from church on Sunday
How is the Lord directing you to sow to the Spirit, walking by His enablement and direction in doing good to believers and unbelievers? If you desire to obey the Lord by serving in one of the above ways, please contact Stephanie or Jacob at sowinghope@woostergrace.org.
